2017 EMR Score Continues Downward Trend

The Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is a numerical value assigned to businesses based on their safety record, history of insurance claims, and estimated future risk as compared to businesses in the same industry and state. Lower EMR values are directly correlated with lower worker compensation insurance premiums. An EMR of 1.0 is considered the industry average, and companies with EMR values less than 1.0 are considered to be safer and lower risk. EMR values are an important factor in a company’s profile and can affect the amount of project work awarded by vendors.

TTL has experienced an overall downward trend in EMR values in the last several years, with a 6% decrease from 2016 to 2017 alone (see figure below). TTL prides itself in having an effective safety program that continues to result in lower EMR values and maintains the well-being of our employees.
