Materials Testing

The quality of a project can only be as good as the quality of materials and quality of the procedures used during construction.  A sound quality control testing program based upon the procedures outlined in the project specifications is the means to assuring quality.  TTL’s Construction Services engineers and managers routinely develop quality control programs for transportation and building projects that assure quality.  Key to those programs is qualified technicians who understand the importance of following the procedures established by state department of transportation (DOT’s), American Association of State Highway & Transportation (AASHTO), and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).  Utilizing laboratories with accreditations is also important so that accurate reliable test results are obtained.  TTL’s technicians are certified through such agencies as Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) and our laboratories are accredited or validated by AASHTO and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) so that reliable test results are obtained from which sound engineering judgment can be made.  Most importantly, our engineers and professionals can help analyze test results for materials for the true impact to the project so that quick decisions and solutions can be made to help maintain project schedules.
